Original pencil and ink drawings for a mural that reads Human Consciousness
My original drawings for a painted mural in Seattle, circa 2017

I recently unearthed these original drawings from a mural I painted along with Heather Hardison as part of the opening of Facebook’s Seattle office on Dexter Avenue in 2017. Seeing them again, I’m reminded of how well they captured the character we were after in the final work which we meant to feel squishy, almost like Jello but without being too bulbous. Kind of like a brain.

Years later, I think our intent still holds up, but there’s a lot I would do differently in the final mural to bring it to life that we didn’t have the time or resources for back then. Maybe this is a good candidate for a print edition to try out some of those ideas?
